About "Stage" (training camps) and exams

Training camps ("stage" in French) serve as a boost to practice and a review of our progress by Sensei. These are 1–2 weekend days with training and an examination of skills, organized a few times each year.

Don't forget:

• kimono (karate-gi)
• karate passport
• food/drink for the breaks
• exam form and/or a photo (can be a cheap printout)
• payment slip (pay directly to Sensei, in advance: H. Nakajima, Chemin de l'Avanchet 21, 1216 Cointrin, IBAN: CH08 0900 0000 1203 7962 1)
• if necessary, book a room to stay in well in advance

Competitions

Competitions are opt-in. They're also a great way to get more practice and to train with Sensei's students from other dojos.

Past events

Training in Japan

• When: Summer 2026 (July–August)
• Where: Sensei's dojo in Okayama, Bizen Kojima island
• Signups: You'll have to self-organize the journey and call Sensei directly about trainings. It's advised to show him your interest early if you're planning to go.

Training with Nakajima Sensei in Zürich

• When: Sunday 7 June 2026, 9:00 – 13:00
• Where: Binz dojo

"Stage" with all of Sensei's students (no exams)

• When: Saturday 25 April, 14:00 – 18:00
• Where: Versoix

In-house tournament / competition

• When: Sunday 26 April, (8:30) 9:00 – 13:00
• Where: Versoix

Yearly Yudansha-kai (black belts' training)

• When: Saturday January 17, 11:00 – 16:30
• Where: Hombu Dojo, Chemin de l'Avanchet 21, 1216 Cointrin
• Lunch: potluck style, bring food to share
• Signups: call Sensei
• We will discuss the trip to Japan and share new Dan diplomas.
